As we getting further into the flu season, health officials say the number of cases reported in the metro are trending upwards.
The Douglas County Health Department says they are continuing to see numbers raise, and they have nearly doubled in the last week. A total of 46 influenza cases were reported last week compared to 25 reported the week prior. The percent of children absent from school also slightly increased.
Douglas County Health Department has not received any reports of adult or pediatric deaths due to influenza this season, but the Nebraska DHHS has reported two adult flu-related deaths in the state this season.
Officials urge anyone with flu-like symptoms to get checked out by a doctor and be sure to wash your hands to prevent the spread of the illness.
