For the 20th straight year metro area Boy Scouts will be making it easy to get rid of your Christmas trees. Groups of boys scouts and volunteers will be doing curbside pickup beginning December 29.
"It saves people from having to load dying or dead Christmas trees back into their car and get those needles all over the place" says Dirk Zwart with Troop 282.
Zwart says they collect about four-thousand trees every year and take them to metro area drop off sites. The dates for curbside collections are December 29-30 and January 1,5,6 and 12.
If you are interested you must make a reservation at www.scouting4trees.org or by calling (402) 965-1458. Boy Scouts and adult volunteers will collect trees beginning at 9:00 a.m. each day.
Trees are taken to area drop sites, where they are ground, chipped or used as fish habitat material in area lakes.
