Man Stabbed After Refusing To Sell His Shoes

An Omaha man is recovering after being stabbed early Monday morning.

Omaha Police say officers were called to the CUMC-University Campus just after 4:30 Monday morning to investigate an assault. Officers spoke with the 22 year old victim, Sebit Mayot, who said he was in the area of 26th and Fort when he was approached by a black male in his thirties who said he wanted to buy Mayot's shoes. When Mayot told the suspect that the shoes were not for sale, the suspect stabbed him.

Mayot's injury is not life threatening and the investigation is ongoing.

Anyone with information is urged to contact Omaha Crime Stoppers at 444-STOP.
