Woman Arrested For Attempted Murder

A shooting Thursday evening in Council Bluffs left one woman in critical condition and landed another in jail.  

Police were called to a home near 28th and Avenue A just after 6:00 on a report of a shots fired and a woman that had been struck by a bullet.

 They found 56-year-old Tammy Smart with a gunshot wound to the head.  She was taken to UNMC and before being placed on life support with a bullet to the brain, Smart was able to identify the person who had shot her.

Police then arrested 38-year-old Jessica Elvins.  She was booked into Pottawattamie County Corrections for attempted murder.
