Iowa Man Sentenced To Life In Prison For Death Of Infant Son

An Iowa man convicted of First Degree Murder for the death of his four month old has been sentenced to life in prison wife no possibility of parole.

In court on Tuesday, a judge handed down the life sentence for 29 year old Zachary Paul Koehn following his conviction in the death of Sterling Koehn. The sentence was mandatory under state law.

In August of 2017, emergency crews called to an Alta Vista apartment found the baby dead in an infant swing in a hot, dark bedroom. Autopsy results showed Sterling died from dehydration, malnutrition and an E. coli infection, which was caused by being left in a maggot-infested diaper for up to two weeks.

The infant's mother, 21 year old Cheyanne Harris, is set to go to trial in January.
