OPS First Grade Teacher Arrested For Sexual Assault

An Omaha Public Schools first grade teacher is behind bars for allegedly sexually assaulting a child.

The Fontenelle Elementary teacher, 30 year old Greg Sedlacek, has been arrested on charges of First Degree Sexual Assault of a Child and has been placed on administrative leave by OPS officials. Authorities say the victim, is a seven year old student.

In a Monday night statement to parents, Fontenelle Elementary School principal Eric Nelson said the school and district are cooperating with investigators.

"We want our families to know we are taking these allegations very seriously. Educators are required by law to report any allegation of inappropriate contact with a student regardless of whether an incident involves staff, fellow students, parents or community members.

We report that information to local law enforcement and Child Protective Services immediately once we are made aware of a concern or allegation. This investigation is ongoing, and the information we can share at this time is limited.

I would also like to take this opportunity to remind our staff and families that if you ever have a concern regarding inappropriate contact between staff members and students, you should report it immediately to the district by contacting our Human Resource Department at 531-299-9428 or by emailing: hrinfo@ops.org."
