Off-Duty Lincoln Police Officer Injured In Crash

Lincoln Police are investigating a one vehicle crash that injured one of their own Sunday afternoon.  It happened near 45th and Vine around 4:30 p.m.  

Police say a westbound Toyota Tacoma struck a pole on the Northwest corner, causing damage to the vehicle and the pole.  The driver, identified as Matthew Brodd, was transported to a local hospital by for injuries sustained in the crash.  The Lincoln Police officer was off-duty at the time of the crash.

The preliminary investigation indicates that alcohol may be factor.  The results of chemical testing for blood alcohol levels are pending the analysis by the Nebraska State Lab.  Lincoln Police say they don't believe Brodd was wearing his seatbelt. 

He was released from the hospital on Monday and remains off duty, recovering from his injuries.
