A 6 year old boy is safe after he was almost left of a school bus Thursday afternoon. The driver passed his stop and went back to the bus yard. The Swanson Elementary School student spoke up and was taken home.
The boy's mother, Karen Watkins tells 6 News she wants more answers. She was waiting at the bus stop for her son who was an hour late. The boy told Watkins that he had gone to where the buses were parked.
Westside Community Schools sent them a statement saying the child fell asleep an missed his stop. The boy was never alone and that child safety is a priority.
Watkins would like to policy to be changed that buses are walked through at the last stop prior to be taken back to the bus yard.
Westside reports they never had problems in the past with this driver.
