Roads will be busy over this holiday weekend but Nebraska State Patrol troopers and dispatchers will be hard at work to make sure everyone is safe.
Those with car trouble can call the NSP Highway Helpline at *55 from any cell phone to get help. Drivers can also call *55 to report an impaired or reckless driver.
“Thanksgiving brings some of the busiest travel days of the year,” said Colonel John Bolduc, Superintendent of the Nebraska State Patrol. “Our troopers are prepared not only to enforce Nebraska’s traffic safety laws, but also to help motorists who need assistance.”
Nebraska's 511 Advanced Traveler Information System is a good way to stay up to date on all road conditions throughout the state. It is available at all times by dialing 511 or by going online at www.511.nebraska.gov.
This also serves as a reminder that all drivers be prepared for potential winter weather. There is a potential for rain and snow in some parts of the state this weekend and travelers should pay close attention to local forecasts and check the weather and road conditions before their return trip.
