Arrest Made In Crash That Killed UNL Band member

Lincoln Police have arrested a man for a crash late last month that killed a UNL band member.  29 year old Waltrivelish Watson of Lincoln was arrested Thursday for felony motor vehicle homicide in the death of 20 year old Tyler Butterfield.

Investigators say Watson was driving 92 miles per hour just seconds before his vehicle slammed into a Toyota Corolla that had several UNL Marching Band members in it.  Butterfield died and five others were injured.

The crash happened at 10th and Arapahoe after a pep band performance the night before the game against Bethune-Cookman.

Investigators used data from an airbag control module inside Watson's car to determine how fast it was traveling before the crash and at the time of impact.

The Corolla, driven by another band member, had pulled out from a parking lot when Watson's vehicle slammed into it.
