Open Door Mission Needs Turkeys And Hams

The Open Door Mission has an urgent need for 600 Thanksgiving turkeys and hams by Saturday, November 17th.  Communications Relations Director Amy Harvey says they are currently putting together 3,000 Turkey "N" Fixin's boxes that will be given to individuals and families in need.  Included in the boxes are potatoes, stuffing and all the other foods to make a traditional Thanksgiving feast.

Harvey says, "We are just looking for that final push Friday and Saturday to help families in the community so that they can have Thanksgiving dinner in their own home, with their own families and not have choose between providing that meal or paying rent or a bill or gas in the car."

About 2,100 boxes have already been distributed.  The public's help is much appreciated.  The turkeys and hams can be dropped off at the Timberlake Outreach Center at 2107 E. Locust St. in Omaha, the Council Bluffs Outreach Center at 1612 Avenue D, the Elkhorn Outreach Center at 1620 N 203rd St or at the Mission on Locust Street east of Abbott Drive.
