Patriotic Productions have announced the next group of veterans who will be invited to board planes to Washington D.C. as part of an honor flight.
Organizers say Purple Heart recipients from the Gulf War, Iraq and Afghanistan will be the next group they take to the nation's capital. The flight is expected to take off on May 24th and will be paid for in part by Sandhills Publishing Co., which is paying for the chartered jet. The group will spend the day touring war memorials and monuments and then fly back to Omaha.
The Military Order of the Purple Heart estimates that there are about 60 registered members in the Cornhusker State, but there are other recipients that are not members that would be eligible for the flight.
The spring flight will also carry escorts, widows of Purple Heart recipients and children of those killed in the line of duty. You can find more information about the honor flights here.
