Family Clash Sends Three To The Hospital

Three members of a Red Oak, Iowa family were hospitalized after a family dispute over the weekend.

Authorities say 44 year old Kain Rinehart is expected to face two charges of Attempted Murder as a result of the incident. It began with a family argument that escalated to a brawl involving a kitchen knife and a hammer.

Red Oak Police tell 6 News that Kain stabbed his 38 year old brother, Luke, several times in the back and side then stabbed his mother, Viola, in the hand and abdomen.

Investigators say Luke fought back with the hammer and struck Kain in the head. All three were air-lifted by medical helicopter to Nebraska Medicine.

All three are expected to recover from their injuries. It's not clear what started the argument.
