Father Accidentally Killed In Hunting Accident

Douglas County Sheriff's authorities say a hunting trip turned tragic Saturday evening when a man was accidentally shot and killed by his son.

It happened on N. 264th Street in Valley around 6 p.m.  Captain Wayne Hudson says 37 year old Joshua McArtor told deputies he had accidentally shot is father, 58 year old Stacy McArtor while hunting. 

Hudson says the pair had been hunting deer until sunset,  Joshua left his tree stand to go over to his father's stand to get ready to leave for the night. 

When Joshua McArtor got to the tree stand, Stacy McArtor handed him his rifle so that he could exit the tree stand. The rifle fired when handed off, striking the father. 

Paramedics declared Stacy McArtor dead at the scene.  An autopsy was performed today, investigators are awaiting the results.
