Update: The Omaha police officer injured in this morning's fall near 132nd and Pacific Street is identified as Officer Chad Simmons. He is a 13 year veteran of OPD and is doing well and recovering.
An Omaha Police officer is recovering after falling on the ice near 132nd and Pacific Friday morning.
Police say around 10:30 the officer responded to assist with vehicles stuck on an icy road. While the officer was going to assist drivers, he slipped, fell and hit his head.
The officer was transported to Bergan Mercy Hospital and was in an out of consciousness. He is now alert and conscious.
