High School Student Arrested After Bringing Gun to School

A Papillion-La Vista High School student has been arrested after district officials say he brought a gun to school Friday morning.

Spokesperson Annette Eyman tells NewsRadio 1110 KFAB the 17-year-old student went into a bathroom and took a video of himself holding the gun.  Eyman said the student then put it in his backpack and posted the video on Snapchat.

Another student saw the video and reported it to the principal.  Eyman says the school resource officer was then contacted and the student was arrested by Papillion Police.  "This situation was resolved very quickly because some student had the common sense to see it, know it was inappropriate and report it immediately to the adults who could then handle the siutation."

Eyman said there was never a threat made to students or staff.  "The student did not intend to hurt anyone.  It was more of a cool factor."
