Salvation Army Gets Ready To Flip The Switch On Tree Of Lights Campaign

Now that Halloween and the midterm elections are squarely behind us, it's time to focus on the holidays.

The Salvation Army in Omaha and American National Bank will start off the season with their annual Tree of Lights Kickoff on Thursday. The Salvation Army Tree of Lights Campaign is a fundraiser for the Omaha-Council Bluffs Salvation Army’s Human Needs Fund. The fund helps to meet the needs of the most vulnerable people in the metro through seven year-round programs. One 100% of every dollar raised for the Tree of Lights Campaign stays in the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro area.

The public is welcome to join the Salvation Army at American National Bank's 90th and Dodge location Thursday night. Musical entertainment by The Salvation Army Brass Ensemble begins at 5:30 with the lighting ceremony starting at 6:00. Guests will be treated to complimentary sandwiches and refreshments, an appearance by Santa and Mrs. Claus, live reindeer, the Omaha Police Department Mounted Patrol, several community mascots plus family photo opportunities.

The kick-off is the start of red kettle season with the Salvation Army placing kettles at 140 locations around the Omaha-Council Bluffs metro from November 9th to December 24th. Volunteer bell ringers can sign up by logging on to www.registertoring.com or by calling 402-898-6000.
