Election officials around the metro area say voters have been turning out in large numbers for Tuesday's mid-term election
Sarpy County Election Commissioner Michelle Andahl tells NewsRadio 1110 KFAB turnout is much higher-than-expected.
"As of 1:30 p.m. we had precincts that were already seeing 50-60 percent turnout, and that doesn't even include the early voting ballots that are here in the office."
She says the turnout is above what they saw for the 2016 presidential election. "I don't want to go too far, but we could possibly see a 70 percent turnout in Sarpy County if the pace of voting continues throughout the day."
In Douglas County, election commissioner Brian Kruse said turnout was brisk throughout the day. "It's better than a normal mid-term. We're not quite to presidential numbers, so we're right about where we expected. Kruse had predicted a 52 percent turnout.
