Dozens Without A Home After Apartment Fire

A two-alarm fire at an apartment building near 108th and Fort St. forced residents to evacuate Halloween night.

The fire started around 7:30 p.m. on the third floor of one of the buildings.  Flames shot through the roof shortly after crews arrived.

Fire officials say 12 to 24 units at the Park West complex were affected and one person was taken to the hospital for trouble breathing.  Crews battled the blaze for more than two hours.

Investigators will not be able to go in for some time as the weight of the water makes the building unsafe and vulnerable to collapse. The cause is unknown at this time.
