School Officials Identify Millard West Student Found Dead

The seventeen year old found dead near Sugar Creek on Sunday has been identified by Millard West officials.

In a letter sent out to Millard West families, Principal Dr. Greg Tiemann identified the boy as senior Blake McKune. Tiemann says counselors will available Monday at Millard West.

McKune's body was found near 192nd and Harrison around 2:00 Sunday afternoon. Investigators say his friends found his body in a ditch near Rosewood Academy preschool. They tried performing CPR but the boy was pronounced dead a short time later.

The Water’s Edge Church in Gretna held a prayer vigil Sunday night. Those attending told 6 News the teen was a senior wrestler for the Wildcats and an avid rugby player. Abigail Randall said, “It still doesn't feel real. It just feels like a dream, like I'm going to wake up soon, but it's real."

McKune's parents called law enforcement when he didn't come home Saturday night. Investigators said there was no indication of foul play and autopsy results are pending.
