Law enforcement and other agencies from around the metro area will be teaming up for Drug Take Back Day on Saturday.
It's part of an ongoing effort to rid homes of unnecessary, unused and expired medications. No needles, syringes, aerosol containers or liquids will be accepted.
Everything collected is incinerated, container and all, so no personal information is compromised. The event runs from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. (9-12 at the Hy-Vee in Papillion).
Last year Americans turned in a total of 475 tons of unused prescription drugs at more than 5,800 sites. The event is free and anonymous with no questions asked.
