Fire heavily damaged a Council Bluffs home around 7:00 Tuesday morning. Heavy smoke and flames were coming from the front of the house when firefighters arrived on High Street between 14th and 15th Avenue.
A woman who was inside the house at the time managed to escape. One of the woman's two dogs and a cat died in the fire.
Firefighters were able to knock down the fire in about ten minutes. Most of the damage was contained to the front porch area
The cause of the fire is still under investigation.
