Omaha Woman Charged In Deadly Crash Back In Custody

An Omaha woman involved in a head-on crash that killed three Sabetha, Kansas family members has been captured by the U.S. Marshals after not showing up for court in early October.

Authorities say 49 year old Maria Perez-Marquez was out on bond and failed to appear in the Jackson County District Court on October 11.   The Jackson County Sheriff's Office requested the assistance from the U.S. Marshals to locate Perez-Marquez. She was arrested on a no bond warrant Tuesday morning.

She faces three counts of involuntary manslaughter in the deaths of Marlee, Carmen and Stephen Ukele. They were killed last November 25th on Highway 75 north of Holton, Kan. while on their way home from seeing Sabetha win the state championship football game.

Authorities say Perez-Marquez tried to pass another vehicle, swerved onto the shoulder and crashed into the Ukele's minivan.

Authorities says she was transported to the Douglas County Jail in Omaha where she will await an extradition hearing.
