An Omaha organization is working to inform citizens on how to keep the city clean, and they're starting with the younger generations.
Keep Omaha Clean held their annual fall cleanup event on Sunday. Adults and children visited Seymour Smith Park to clean up trash and tag trees.
Parents like Tally Mertes tell 6 News that they hope event like Sunday's will set an example for the kids' futures. "The future is really his and it's important that we make sure that we take care of it, and teaching him young, it's going to b something that he grow up with and has those values ongoing."
Over 1,600 people attended the event and collected an estimated 1,200 bags of trash and recyclables over the course of the weekend.
