Lincoln Police are investigating the death of a man whose body was found in the street near 14th and Judson just before 8:30 Thursday night.
Authorities say that initial information provided was that a male had jumped out of a moving vehicle with emergency crews arriving within minutes to begin lifesaving efforts. The victim, 42 year old Stacy Talbot was transported to a local hospital where he died shortly after 9:00. Police say Talbot sustained a gunshot wound to the chest and an autopsy is currently being completed to establish a cause of death.
Throughout the night, crime scene investigators searched and processed the area of North 14th where Talbot was found. The Criminal Investigations Unit has been canvasing the neighborhood, interviewing witnesses, and processing digital and forensic evidence.
Investigators say that the act of violence was not random and that there is no ongoing threat to the public.
6 News reports that around 1:30 Friday morning, police noticed a vehicle they believed was connected to the incident. An officer tried to stop it, but the driver kept going and a pursuit was initiated near 33rd and O. As that chase continued, a second vehicle believed to be involved was spotted near Antelope Valley and O. Officers stopped that vehicle near 23rd and Vine. Three occupants were taken in for questioning. The first vehicle eluded police and is still being sought.
