Henry Doorly Zoo Will Take Tree Debris Off Your Hands

Omaha's Henry Doorly Zoo and Aquarium wants to put branches broken by Sunday's early snow to good use.

In a Facebook post, the Zoo stated that several of their animals like to munch on branches and leaves, so they're collecting unwanted branch debris to give as snacks. A win-win for Omaha residents dealing with downed leaves and zoo residents wanting a tasty treat.

Some of the branch types the zoo would like include:

  • Elm
  • Hackberry
  • Mulberry
  • Birch
  • Honey Locust
  • Linden
  • Willow

The branches cannot have been treated with pesticides or be from dead or dying trees.

Anyone interested in donating or anyone with questions should call the zoo's Browse Department at 402-738-6947 or email browse@OmahaZoo.com
