Lincoln Police Chief Concerned Over Omaha Recruiting Strategy

The head of the Lincoln Police Department is concerned that he could lose some of his officers to Omaha.

Lincoln Police Chief Jeff Bliemeister says that the Omaha Police Department is actively recruiting some of Lincoln's finest to come work in Nebraska's biggest city. Bliemeister say his officers have gotten phone calls and emails and phone calls from OPD attempting to lure them to the metro. The aggressive recruitment, Bliemeister says, worries him as he feels his force will have an "exodus" of officers.

Last year, four Lincoln police officers joined the Omaha department. Omaha law enforcement officials have recently pushed for more officers as they look to grow the force from roughly 820 officers to 900.

Lincoln's force is about 350 officers.
