Nebraska fire officials have announced what caused a building-leveling explosion and fire at a metro dry cleaners on Sunday.
State Fire Marshal Deputies determined the cause fire at Wardrobe Spa to be an act of arson. During their investigation, deputies discovered evidence of tampering with the natural gas system in the building, not affiliated with Metropolitan Utilities District.
No one was inside the building, which was closed for business. The owner was on site, working outside the building, but was unharmed. The total estimated damage for the structure, not including equipment, is $350,000. Signage on the building saying "now open" indicates the business is new to the area.
The Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office assisted in the investigation. Authorities have made no arrests and the investigation is ongoing.
