Sarpy County authorities have identified the man killed in an accidental shooting.
The Sarpy County Sheriff’s Office says just before 5:00 Saturday evening, deputies were called to an apartment on Scarborough Drive in Bellevue for an accidental shooting. A man inside the apartment told deputies that 26 year old Eric Niedbalski had been accidentally shot.
Sheriff’s deputies and Bellevue Fire and Rescue located Niedbalski inside the apartment with a single gunshot wound injury. Captain Brian Richards tells NewsRadio 1110 KFAB that Niedbalski was at the apartment visiting a friend when the incident occurred. Richards says the friend was unloading his handgun to clean it when the gun went off, hitting Niedbalski in the upper body, killing him.
The identities of the other two people that were at the apartment are being withheld at this time, pending further investigation.
