Armed Robbery Suspect Arrested After Morning Pursuit

An Omaha man is behind bars in Council Bluffs after leading police on a pursuit early Monday morning.

Council Bluffs Police say just before 7:45, officers were called to Bomgaars on E. Kanesville Boulevard for an armed robbery. Witnesses told police that the suspect fled from the scene in a red Chevy Camaro with Nebraska plates, headed west on Kanesville.

Officers located the suspect vehicle fleeing the area and attempted to initiate a traffic stop at E. Kanesville and Harrison Street. The vehicle continued west on Kanesville to 8th and Broadway where officers deployed stop sticks.

The Camaro became disabled as it went over the Broadway Viaduct, losing a tire. The driver, 35 year old Randy Lee Andersen, then fled from the vehicle on foot, but was apprehended before he could get off the viaduct. Both the vehicle and the gun Andersen used in the robbery had been reported stolen.

Andersen was charged with two counts of First Degree Robbery, Second Degree Theft, Third Degree Theft, Felon in Possession of a Firearm, Reckless Driving, Eluding and Possession with Intent to Deliver (Meth). Andersen also had an outstanding warrant out of  Nebraska.
