There will be no bond for a man accused of strangling an Omaha mother to death.
At his first court appearance on Wednesday, a judge denied bond for 39 year old Jeremiah Connelly, who prosecutors say murdered 22 year old Jeanna Wilcoxen.
Connelly was arrested after running from a traffic stop near 90th and Bedford last Friday. During questioning about the stolen vehicle he was driving, police say he made reference to a woman's death. The mention of that woman's death led investigators to Wilcoxen's body, which was on the side of a desolate road near Fremont.
In court, investigators said Connelly was supposed to meet with Wilcoxen on Sunday, September 16th but she cancelled their plans. That apparently upset Connelly and, according to prosecutors, he tracked her down. Watching and waiting for Wilcoxen at Christie Heights Park near 36th and Q streets.
Detectives say that's where Connelly strangled Wilcoxen, bound her and abducted her in his van. Prosecutors say he sexually assaulted her and eventually choked Wilcoxen to death. Autopsy results show that she died of asphyxiation.
Connelly appeared to show no emotion while in court on Wednesday.
