Fremont Man Arrested In Council Bluffs To Omaha Chase

Several schools in downtown Omaha were taking precautions Wednesday morning as a chase that started in Council Bluffs ended near the Creighton University campus.

It began around 8 a.m. when a Pottawattamie County Deputy Police tried to make a traffic stop on a car with stolen license plates.

A few minutes later, the deputy tried to stop the vehicle near North 16th Street and Nash Boulevard, but the driver kept going.  The car went southbound on 16th Street, then west on Avenue G and onto I-29 south.

The driver exited at 9th Avenue and went onto Harrah’s Casino property then returned to I-29 heading north with law cruisers in pursuit.

The vehicle exited I-29 onto westbound Interstate 480 where it struck another vehicle then crossed into Nebraska.  Pottawattamie County authorities stopped the chase and exited at 14th Street.

The vehicle continued west on Interstate 480, went through a fence and down an embankment onto Cass Street near 20th.   Two men got out and ran onto the Creighton campus.

29 year old James Horn was located and arrested. The passenger got away. Horn has three outstanding arrest warrants for weapons possession, assault and violation of a protection order. He was taken to the Douglas County Jail.
