Police Seek Help In Murder Investigation

Omaha Police are asking for the public's help as they begin the investigation into the murder of a 22 year old woman.

Police are requesting the assistance of anyone who may have seen, or had contact with, 39 year old Jeremiah Connelly or his gray 1987 Chevrolet van in recent days and months.

Connelly has been out of prison since June 28 and is believed to have since been in the areas of Omaha, Council Bluffs, Fremont, Columbus, and Valley.

Connelly's vehicle is described as a gray or silver 1987 Chevrolet G20 van with Nebraska license plate VYX 116 . The vehicle was recovered Monday, September 17th at around 10:35 a.m. after the Omaha Fire Department was called to a vehicle fire at 36th and I street.

He is facing murder and several other charges after the body of 22 year old Jeanna Wilcoxen was found in a ravine near Fremont over the weekend.

Connelly was arrested Friday near 90th and Bedford after witnesses reported a reckless driver in the area. When police made a traffic stop, Connelly reportedly ran off.    Police caught up with Connelly and determined the vehicle had been stolen.

That's when police say he started speaking about the death of a woman.   An investigation led detectives to the location of Wilcoxen's body.

If you have any information call the Homicide Unit at 402-444-5656 with any information.
