Omaha Traffic Stop Leads To Murder Investigation

A traffic stop in Omaha last Friday afternoon has led to the arrest of a man for murder.  Police say officers pulled over a car that was driving recklessly in the area of 90th and Bedford just before 3:30 p.m.

The driver got out and fled on foot.  The officers chased 39 year old Jeremiah Connelly and took him into custody.  Officers determined the vehicle had been stolen and questioned Connelly, at which point he mentioned an unrelated death.

Homicide investigators went to work and found a dead woman near Fremont. She has been identified as 22 year old Jeanna Wilcoxen.

On Saturday investigators booked Connelly into Douglas County Corrections for first-degree murder, tampering with evidence, theft-unlawful taking and willful reckless driving.  The investigation is continuing.
