La Vista Police say a crash involving a suspected drunk driver during the Thursday morning commute could have been much worse.
Captain D.J. Barcal says around 8:15 Zachary Swayles of Lincoln was eastbound on Giles at 120th when he tried to pass a semi. In the process, Barcal says Swayles sideswiped another vehicle before drifting back into the path of the semi.
After that collision, Barcle says Swayles drove over the median and began driving east in the westbound lanes in an effort to get away. Due to the damage to his car, Swyales was only able to get to 114th Street before he was arrested. The driver in the car that Swayles struck was taken to the hospital as a precaution with back pain.
Swayles is facing charges of DUI, Wilfull Reckless Driving, Leaving the Scene of an Accident and Refusal of a Chemical Test.
