Three women have been arrested in connection with a wide-ranging fraud case in Douglas County.
37 year old Desiree Yarbrough, 33 year old Priscilla Holmes and 37 year old Paula Gilson are in custody in a case that first came to light after a theft in July. The investigation that followed led to the arrests and the seizure of evidence linked to more than 60 victims.
The July 23rd theft report involved items taken from a car in the 16000 block of Patrick Ave. The victim reported numerous stolen items, including a checkbook, social security cards and passports.
A short time later, the victim told investigators that several of the stolen checks were fraudulently passed and several attempts had been made to open credit card accounts in the victim's name.
That information led detectives to a residence near 162nd and Yort Ave. They served a search warrant on September 12th and began combing through the property.
They recovered stolen mail items, forged checks, stamped prescription pads, stolen or fraudulent credit cards and various forms of ID for approximately 66 victims. Deputies also located marijuana, approximately one ounce of Methamphetamine, 63.5 Lorazepam (Schedule IV controlled substance) and 82 Ambien (Schedule IV controlled substance) pills.
The missing property from the original theft in July was also recovered. All three women are facing several felony charges.
