After two straight losses to begin the season, The Nebraska football team began preparations Monday for Saturday's Big Ten Conference opener and first road trip of the season.
As the Huskers prepare to play Michigan the status of injured starting quarterback Adrian Martinez is still up in the air.
Head coach Scott Frost says Martinez was close to playing against Troy, but he wasn't quite ready. Frost said quarterback Adrian Martinez did practice Monday, but he won't say if the freshman will play in Ann Arbor.
"The key is going to be if there's any added danger to further injury," Frost says. "We need him for the rest of the season and the rest of his career." Frost says the 0-2 start can be attributed to a bunch of little things that have gone wrong.
"Champions make good decisions. Average people, average teams don't make those decisions. Little things lead to big things and we're going to get it right," Frost says.
Frost was encouraged by what he saw on the practice field Monday morning. He called it one of the best he's seen so far.
"I did see a great practice today. I saw guys practicing with an intention to be great. I thought it was our best Monday. Just kind of a different mindset today and I hope that carries over."
Frost says Michigan is going to be much tougher than the teams the Huskers faced in its first two games of the season. "This team is considerably better, in my opinion, than the two teams we just played and didn't beat," Frost says. "This is a huge task and we're going to have to play a perfect game and get a lot better in a week to come out on top in this one."
Kickoff on Saturday is 11:00
