Lincoln Police are investigating after an overnight shooting at the Fairfield West Apartments that left a woman critically injured.
Officers were called to 3rd and Fairfield around midnight and when they arrived, they found a 25 year old woman suffering from several gunshot wounds. The victim was transported to the hospital for treatment of life-threatening injuries.
Police would not say if there was a suspect or suspects in custody but they did say that there is no threat to the public. Investigators are conducting interviews.
Officers were seen searching the area and going through trash cans around 1:00 Monday morning. Around the same time, a neighbor said police woke her up asking if she heard anything, with officers telling her there were gunshots in the area.
