Mother Nature is not going to cooperate as the Huskers start their 2018 season tonight at Memorial Stadium.
Meteorologist Brian Miller says the day started out with rain and storms in and around the metro area. Storm chances are still possible through the late morning hours before we get a lull in activity this afternoon.
Miller says, "As we head toward evening, storm chances increase to 50, 60, 70 percent between 6 p.m. and 10 p.m. That is kind of looking right now the window where we could have strong to severe storms and heavy rain in the Lincoln and Omaha areas."
It is going to be a soggy Labor Day weekend. Miller says there is a chance of thunderstorms through Monday. The risk of severe storms is a bit lower than what was in the forecast the last few days but there could still be some areas that see strong wind and hail. Miller says, "We are also looking for heavy rain through the next several days. There could be three inches or more in some places over the next several days and there is some potential for flooding if areas get hit more than one night."
