Council Bluffs Man Barricades Himself In Home After Assaulting Two Women

A Council Bluffs man has been taken into custody after assaulting two women and threatening to shoot them.

Council Bluffs Police say officers were called to a home near 36th and Avenue E just after 8:00 Wednesday night for a report of an armed subject who had made threats towards a woman. Investigators found that 39 year old Darryl Stickney had assaulted two women in front of a child, saying he would “shoot them” if the police showed up.

Police made contact with Stickney, who refused to come to the door and meet with officers. He was the only person in the house at the time. The Emergency Services Team along with Crisis Negotiator responded to the scene and after nearly three hours of negotiations, Stickney surrendered to the Emergency Services Team.

During the incident, non-lethal bean bag rounds and gas grenades were deployed and Stickney sustained minor injuries, but refused treatment at the scene. He was booked into Pottawattamie County Corrections on two counts of Domestic Abuse – Aggravated Assault, Child Endangerment and Disobedience to a Peace Officer.
