A judge in Kansas has given the final okay for crews to tear down a deadly water slide.
On Wednesday, the Wyandotte County District Court judge said that the seventeen story Verruckt slide "traumatizes everyone." In 2016, ten year old Caleb Schwab died on the slide at the Schlitterbahn water park in Kansas City, Kansas. Schwab's death led to criminal charges against the company that built the slide and five people, including Schlitterbahn's co-owner.
The slide has not been torn down yet because of on-going disagreements over what parts of Verruckt should be preserved as possible evidence. Schlitterbahn attorneys say preliminary deconstruction of Verruckt will start soon.
