Man Who Shot Furniture Mart Employee Sentenced

A 21 year old man who shot and seriously wounded a Nebraska Furniture Mart employee in January of 2017 is headed to prison.

A judge on Monday sentenced Ryan Blaha to 45 to 70 years in prison.  Blaha seriously wounded Jared Clawson as he was walking into the furniture store early in the morning.

Investigators say Blaha had researched serial killers Jeffrey Dahmer and Charles Starkweather on his home computer before the shooting.  Blaha received 30 to 40 years for first-degree assault and 15 to 30 years for a weapons charge. The sentences will be served consecutively with credit for 592 days served.

He will be eligible for parole in 25 years.
