Douglas County authorities are investigating the death of a woman in a west Omaha house. Emergency crews were called to the home near 189th and L Street just before 10:00 Sunday night.
Douglas County Sheriff's Captain Tom Wheeler tells NewsRadio 1110 KFAB that they got a call from a man at the house for a woman who had been found dead. When deputies arrived they met with Craig Wiech. Bellevue Police confirm that Wiech is one of their officers.
Deputies then made their way to a bedroom where they found 48 year old Carrie Brown dead from a gunshot wound. Wheeler says Wiech and Brown were in a relationship. Brown worked as an evidence technician with the Bellevue Police Department, where Wiech has served as an officer for 22 years.
The circumstances leading up to Brown's death remain under investigation.
