Sen. Sasse Seeks Law Enforcement Answers In Tibbetts Case

Nebraska U.S. Senator Ben Sasse says he wants answers regarding the immigration status of the man accused of murdering Mollie Tibbetts.

Sasse wrote a letter to Ronald Vitiello, the Acting Director of U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE), seeking answers regarding the immigration status and criminal history of 24 year old Cristhian Bahena Rivera.

He has been charged with the murder of Tibbetts.  “These are central questions that deserve public answers,” Sasse says.  “This isn’t the first tragedy to befall our communities. We need to make sure that warning signs weren’t missed as they have been before. This oversight work is important.”

Sasse also makes reference to the Sarah Root case in Omaha.  She was killed in a traffic crash by an illegal immigrant who posted bond and left the country.
