Dangerous Fugitive Taken Off The Streets

Omaha Police say an armed and dangerous fugitive has been taken into custody.  36 year old Seneca Polite was a fugitive who was linked to a shooting on August 13th near 45th and Lafayette.

In addition, investigators believe Polite might be involved in other recent shootings in Omaha as well. At the time of his arrest, Polite was armed with two handguns which were recovered by the arresting officers.

Police say he has a history of gun use and of committing violent crimes. He has already served time on a couple of occasions in the state penitentiary. Polite spent four years locked up for robbery from 1999 to 2003. He got out last year after being locked up on a felony assault conviction.

Polite is accused of shooting Antjuan Williams in the mouth a couple of blocks from a Mega Saver on Northwest Radial and Hamilton.   Court documents reveal that the victim got out of his car after getting shot in the face and ran to the convenience store, alleging that Polite followed him the entire way saying, "Why are you running? Let me finish you off."

Detectives said the gun jammed twice before the first shot, and then after the gun fired. The bullet lodged in Williams' lower jaw, but he will survive.
