Cleanup Efforts Continue Following Torrential Rains

Cleanup efforts are underway across the metro after over a half foot of rain fell during storms on Sunday and Monday.

The National Weather Service reported that nearly a foot of rain fell on Woodbine, Iowa and a two-day total in Omaha topped eight inches. All that rain left behind a lot of muck and mud, with some residents having to pump the water out of basements and yards due to flooding.

Strong winds during the storms knocked down tree limbs and knocked out power to thousands of homes. One woman even found herself trapped in her car when she came in contact with a downed tree limb at 82nd and Pacific.

She ran over the branch, which caught the bottom of her car and flipped it on to its side. The woman needed help getting out of her car, but she did make it out unscathed.
