It has been a messy Monday morning commute as heavy rains and strong winds knocked out power to more than 12,000 OPPD customers.
OPPD first began reporting outages as early as 5:30 a.m. as winds began picking up and, knocking down tree limbs.
Outages grew to 12,794 around 6:30 a.m. Officials also reported some traffic signals were affected. Outages are affecting customers in primarily in the north and northeast parts of Omaha. Officials say seven circuits are locked out in the OPPD service territory, most in the Omaha metro area.
