Traffic came to a stand still on I-80 near Lincoln yesterday after law enforcement officers chased a man onto the roadway.
At around 10:30 a.m. Seward County authorities began pursuing a stolen vehicle driven by 32-year-old Tyler Behnken. A short time later dispatchers advised the vehicle crashed near I-80 and I-180 and the driver fled on foot.
Several officers from various agencies chased Behnken as he ran through interstate traffic, placing the other drivers and law enforcement officers in danger. Behnken fought with officers and was eventually Tased, which had no effect on him.
He was taken into custody but continued to struggle with officers. Behnken was believed to be under the influence of drugs and was taken to the hospital before being turned over to Seward County authorities.
