The Nebraska Humane Society says a Beagle puppy stolen by a man from the back of one of their vans during an eviction has been found and is safe.
Officials said the beagle was taken from the vehicle near 40th and Seward last week. NHS staff were on scene assisting with an eviction. Animal control officers were retrieving Lucky and another dog, since the owner was not there during the eviction.
While the NHS officers was attempting to remove the second dog, a man drove up to the van and took Lucky. He then fled in a greenish/grey Ford Explorer or Expedition.
A bystander was able to capture the theft on cell phone video. NHS spokesperson Pam Wiese says nothing like this has ever happened before. The man who took the dog has not been found.
