Family Sues Hy-Vee In Wake Of Pasta Salad Contamination

A family that fell ill after eating contaminated Hy-Vee pasta salad is now suing the Iowa based company.

In a lawsuit filed on Tuesday, a woman stated that she, her daughter and grandson all became sick after eating the salmonella-laden salad from a store in Winona, Minnesota. Both the woman and her daughter reportedly both required medical care. The lawsuit is seeking an unspecified amount of money for medical costs, pain and suffering and loss of wages.

The pasta salad was recalled by Hy-Vee on July 17th. Federal health officials say 79 people, 18 of whom were hospitalized, in nine states became ill. A Hy-Vee spokesperson says food safety is the company's top priority and an investigation continues at the Nebraska facility where the pasta salad was made.
